My turtle is about 6 1/2 inches long. From other posts on here I think he was supposed to shed a long time ago but for some reason the old shell didn't come off. I'm giving him lots of natural sunlight, making sure he dries off completely for a large part of each day, and lowering the ph in his water to try to help the shedding process along. Maybe your turtle is just shedding normally whereas mine got stuck at this stage. Pieces of my turtle's outer shell are now flaking off but it's still real slow.

Yah hopefully, is your tutles shell a little white too? Could it be that I have hard water? The glass that is not submerged in the water has a white residue that will not come off. Do you think that this could be contributing to Milton's shell problem?
