I have not had experience with the drops, but have read that the drops of choice for an eye infection are either Exocin (ofloxacin is the active ingredient) or Tiacil (has gentamicin in it), so it sounds like your vet is on the right track.

Out of curiosity, do you happen to know what the other injection was?

All I know it is an antibiotic injection - not sure what its called

His eye seems to be progressively getting better again :)
