I got on another turtle site that I'm a member of(www.petturtle.com) and put a link of this thread, and explained your problem. I asked them to reply on my thread, and I would tell you the replies, but so far no one has. www.petturtle.com isn't as popular as this website, but there is one moderator who is very smart and on there very often, so I'm hoping he'll reply.(Well, I think it's a guy. I don't know. I don't really talk personal with people on the computer!)

Ok,well someone replied, but they said that they thought it was a ear abscess, but since it wasn't swollen on the sides of the neck, then it probably wasnt. But he/she wanted you to post a picture with your turtle's neck fully extended.

An abcess can appear anywhere, not just in the ear area. If it is the result of an infection, the turtle will likely stop eating and be lethargic. I'd find another herp vet.

BTW, any lump that impedes a turtle from retracting the head is "serious." Don't try to push on it (or whatever you tried to do) anymore. Find another herp vet.

I agree with you Marisa.

My baby had this 'thing' too before this, exactly the same position as Worldpeace turtle.. and I took my baby to the vet and vet said it is abscess.. I tot abscess occur near the ear but the vet said, it can be anywhere on turtle. So the vet push the 'thing' out and put ointment (not sure what it is) and soak my baby in permanganate solution. Now my turtle doing fine. Its 2 months ago.

Today I found my turtle with her feet all wounded, I think the ants got her.

Im really concerned because she also has a swollen neck. I cant get to the vet right now, probably until Monday. Please help. Can I use H202 on her to disinfect the wounds? What should i do? Im really worried.

Clean water is good but by no means a form of treatment. How is she otherwise? You might want to post a new topic and add some of the details.

I haven't seen the pic, but abcesses can occur anywhere on the body, not just where the "ears" are.
