I had bought a pair a year ago, but the female {pooh} ended up growing up to 3.75 inches. She then started nipping at spidey, so i gave her up to a pet store after watching in horror how she grabbed spideys leg and dragged him in the water.

He was a little stunned and wouldnt go in the water for a week. this occurred about 2 months ago. After that week of closely watching him..he went back to his social self. Hes very warm and doesnt seem to be scared of me, he slides when other people approach him though. He does these little cute things which reflect his trust in me. He was perfectly fine upto 2 weeks ago.

He has suddenly gone into a heavy sleep. He sleeps in the water or on the basking spot with every appendage extended completely out of his shell . Ususally when he was sleeping I could wake him up in a snap. Now it takes several minutes....even if im holding him. He does eat, and is still his playful self. I really miss him swimming into my hand voluntarily. I have done some research and the only reason that kept coming up is turpor. This is my first res can someone please offer their valuable advice?

The way I see it, he knows that the bully is gone so now he can finally get the sleep that he probably didn't get while the bully was around, if he stops eating and gets other symptoms then I would worry, I would still watch him though.

What are the temps of the basking area and water? Is he in the line of or under any AC? Does he show any other symptoms? Are his eyes swollen at all? Does he eat when you feed him?

What is his set-up like?

I will post pics this saturday. I think pics will clarify things more but i will try to explain

Hes in a ten gallon @ 3/4 full
water temp is 82
I have reptisun 5.0
i use the reptisafe water dechlorinator
feed him the pellets and occassionally mealworms.
I have not given him live brine shrimp in about a month
he is not in line of ac
I cant tell if his eyes are swollen, this is my first res.
He eats but not as much as before
He now sleeps all the time.
I take him out into the sun every 2 days

I only saw him awake for 20 minutes yesterday, then when i got up and came back he had his eyes closed again. I tried giving him strawberry today but he didnt want it.

Thanx for all suggestions and future info. I will post pics on sat am

It really helps at least get an "image" of how the turtle's been living rather than going back and forth with questions...

i understand this.

I will have pics up by tomorrow am. He seems healthy to my rookie eye, but he just sleeps all day. :(

hes about an inch and a quarter.
Ive had him for a year now. Hes only grown maybe 5-7 cm.

hes basically a baby, I cant help but feel the urge to keep him safe, happy and healthy

Try giving him some boiled chicken (not much, too fatty) or some tuna packed in water, if he is anything like mine, he will love the tuna and chicken. :D
