Squirt, my smallest turtle, passed on two days ago. It's hard to talk about it. But he seemed to be doing well, even swimming the day he died. I don't know what happened. But he did pass on. I've noticed that Scooter is looking, a little lethargic. Not swimming as much, and staying and basking most of the day. He used to swim a lot. I don't know what's going on with them.

Sorry to hear about Squirt .. :(

What I'd do first is make sure to clean out the tank throughly.. using plenty of hot water and some white vinegar. What is your water temp and basking temp? Has he been eating at all?

Very sorry to hear this. :( He had absolutely no symptoms or unusual behavior at all? Since you only got them in late January, it's possible he was already ill when you bought him.

I'd used some diluted bleach--2 oz. to a gallon of water to disinfect it in case it's something that's contagious. And rinse numerous times and even air dry it if possible.

Sorry to hear about your two turtles. At least you gave them a good home and a happy life for the time you had them.

I'm so sorry. They must have been sickly when you got them.

Do you plan on getting another turtle? Maybe a healthy adult this time?

I'm not sure. I want one, but in order to buy one here, I'd have to buy atleast a 55 tank so I'd have enough room, and I just don't have the money for that. So, I'm thinking of getting a small lizard instead. I plan to stay here at the turtle forum though, because I like reading everything here. It's really informative, and I love reading stuff about pets. I'm actually thinking of getting a leopard gecko. Does anyone have experience with these?

don't go iguanas, they get big. I suggest you go with fish or something, neat things. Oh, and i also suggest saltwater tanks, a little more expensive, but MUCH more rewarding, i'm getting $600 of equipment for free from various people of the Chesapeake Marine Aquaria Society. Nice people there.

And sorry for your loss :(

I definitely don't want an iguana. They do get to big. I also don't want a saltwater tank. But since I have a ton of reptile supplies I want to stick with reptiles. So I'm looking around at what is available here. I can't go with a snake either, because my dad would kill it. But my mom and I both want one. ^_^

Yeah, I know! I would be okay defying my mom, because she doesn't like most of the creatures I have, including my mice, but my dad would actually kill it. So I can't do it that way. :D But I've decided to get two leopard geckos from a rescue locally. ^_^ I can't wait to get them.
