Hi! I need help. Bouth my tourtles are having this problem. I talk to the vet and he sad that it"s normal for turtles in growth, but is it? The man has no idea what is talking about. I told him that i read about it and that it might be result of overfeeding or overheeding... And the other vets in my contry have no idea what do these animals eat, so they probably cant help me :? So i"m asking you, is t dangerous, what should i do???

Yes, if they are pyramiding it is dangerous, it puts stress on the internal organs and is a sign of an improper diet. The extent to which it can be reversed depends on the turtles age and how severe the problem is. The best thing to do now is to correct thier diet. Read over this: http://www.redearslider.com/index_nutrition.html if you haven't already.

A few questions:
What have you been feeding them, how much, and how often?
What is your setup like? Do you have UVB lighting for them?
How big and how old are the turtles?
Can you post a picture of the problem?

That doesn't look too bad at all. It looks like it's been growing a little too fast, and there's some retained scutes, but it's nothing that a good diet won't fix right up :D Don't worry if they won't start eating thier vegetables right away, it takes some time after they've been spoiled with more delicious foods. It's okay to withhold pellets and other protein for a few days in order to entice them to eat the vegetables.

I have another question; I changed the diet, so how long does it takes for the shell to recover? Will it start to peel off by its self, or i sould do somethink about it?

As long as you feed the proper diet and provide the proper lighting, his shell will start to shed within a few months.

They need to shed some scutes.

Yeah but this one was so funny taking some of the food in her mouth and going back in the tank :D
And what do you think about the mix? the pellets are 100% plants and veggies. They get one day this 100% vegetarian meal and the other day I give them pellets that contain 30% proteins. Sometimes I give them gupies, and I often give them some aquatic plants.
