Harriet passed yesterday, but she was never with Franklin. I think they were both ill when I got them. My vet let me choose another RES. She is probably 4 inches or 5. I am doing everything I can to ensure that she stays healthy.

What a shame! I know how much you care for your turtles, and it must be very hard to lose one.

The fact that your new one is much bigger is very good. The little ones are always more delicate. I hope you and your new turtle have a long happy life together!

Thanks a lot KornyGerm and SpotsMama!
I only had the little ones in my life for a few days but man it tore me apart when I lost them.
KornyGerm...I really appreciate that! Unfortunately, it's really far from me. I think I will be ordering online.

Sorry to hear you lost both of them. What a shock, I though Harriet was doing okay. That was really nice of your vet to give you one of his though. :) And like SpotsMama said, the bigger RES are much stronger than the babies are. And you can be fairly certain that the new one is healthy (coming from a vet), whereas it's almost guaranteed that the baby turtles sold by those low-lifes at the open air markets are already sick and dying.

For anybody else out there thinking of "rescuing" a baby turtle from one of those septic tanks being sold by the scum bag that crawled out of one, DON'T DO IT!!! Those turtles are dead anyways. All you're doing is making it so mr. *@%#-for-brains can sleaze some more sick baby turtles onto someone else.

This is also why I hope those morons in Lousiana don't get their wish to repeal the ban on the sale of baby turtles. They're probably just going to flood the market with more sick unhealthy inbred genetically deformed and dying baby turtles. All they're doing is bringing innocent and helpless lives into this world to suffer a short miserable existence in some turd's pathetic cesspool at some low-life skanky flea market.

...phew!...okay...pant...i'm done...ranting...now...
