Urgent Care :: leg sore

i just bought two hatchlings and one of them has a sore on the leg that i didnt notice at the store should i put it in a seperate tank and what should i do about helping it heal up it can still use the leg though so just wondering what i should do about it?

what type of sore? i'm no help in these matters, but i know a picture would be very helpful, of the leg specifically

Can you answer the following questions?

How big is your turtle?
How long have you had it?

What is the water temperature?
Are you using a water heater?
How much water is in there?
Are you using a water conditioner?
Are you using any filtration?

What is the basking temperature?
Is there a basking light?
Is there a basking platform that is easy to climb on?
What kind is it or what is it made out of?
Is there a UVB light?

What have you been trying to feed it?
When was the last time your turtle ate?

How big is the tank/pond/enclosure?
Is the tank near a window?
Is the tank in a room with a lot of activity?

Have you read the Basic Care section?
Have you searched the forums for similar situations?

Is there any other unusual activity/symptoms?

Here's some info on turtle health including some suggestions in the case of a minor sore or injury. Read down towards the bottom of the page to find the section on cuts and injuries:

Be sure that the water is kept very clean and if the sore is more than very minor or if it gets worse go ahead and see a vet. If you put a little neosporine on it, keep the turtle out of the water for an hour or so so it doesn't just wash away.

Also, it's very common for two turtles kept in the same tank to bite each other and cause injuries. Keep a close eye out because of that's what's happening they will need to be separated.

the one with the leg sore just sits and basks on the floating dock all the time unless i put him in the water the other is swimming away on a side note i have yet to see either of them eat yet!

The picture is kind of blurry and I cant see what you are talking about, but his shell looks kind of weird..almost silver-ish like on one spot..does it smell? Is the area soft? (the shell and the "leg sore")

What you said about the one with the leg sore not swimming, is pretty strange too. RES are highly aquatic, they only come out of the water to bask or to lay eggs. Your turtles should be alert and skittish around you. When a aquatic turtle isnt being aquatic its a problem.

I highly suggest that you take those turtles to a vet (when one is sick, the other one can be too even if no symptoms are shown)..lethargy isnt a good sign and death often follows it

What is your setup like? Have you read all the info on this site on how to properly take care of these animals?

Is the sore the whitish area on the right front leg in the second pic? The pictures don't really indicate where it is.

I also see some areas on the shell that look like potential problems, especially the area on the left side that looks whitish. Could you post a clearer pic of the shell dry and the leg with the sore?
