Yes I did put him in the V8 / Beef Broth mixture twice (about 1 inch deep), rinse him thoroughly afterwards. He was not interested in the turtle stick at all so I put 4 feeder guppies in the tank and see how it goes - one of them disappeared the next day so that's good news!
However, I don't think he is interested in the turtle stick now as he falls in love with the fish pellet (I will post the name later tonight).
Thanks lydia_lady_fla I have also removed all the tiny rocks just in case.

Thank you very much for your help!

Just wonder is it normal for RES to lose their desire for food once in a while? The vet did not perform any treatment at all but now he is a lot more active than 2 weeks ago. I added a UVB light, would this be the reason?

They can get sick of eating a food. I usually stop giving it for a while and introduce it at some later point in time. I've never really noticed a desire not to eat food at all, though (unless the turtle was new or ill).

If he gets fixated on the fish pellets (which are for fish, not turtles), it's going to be hard to get him to accept new foods (and he does need variety in the diet).

A UVB light will make for a healthier (and therefore most likely more active) turtle.

Thanks for the info.

The food he loves is the "Hikari Chchlid Gold".

I've heard of Hikari (Japanese company), but fish food really shouldn't be a staple in the diet...
