today, after i fed my turtles, i took them out of thier containers and let them roam around my room to dry off. i havnt told you guys this yet i think, but i think that shemp has a shell problem. and bubbles has another problem...
Shemp:
1) scutes are shedding alot, so i fixed basking and water temp (made them lower..80 water, 90 basking)
2) has light whitish spots on shell, some blotchy, and two timy tiny roung circles, seems to be underneath shedding scutes that have for come off yet.
3)had a soft spot on one scute, poked at it while shell was dry, "popped" it, water came out. (i believe water was trapped under shedding scute)
4)plastron (is that right? the belly?) is faded and whitish in the middle in a line from top to bottom and SLIGHTLY softer than surrounding shell. maybe because he/she cannot dry off his/her belly?
What i have done about it:
1)clipped off peeling scutes that have lifted up with fingernail clippers, did NOT pry off.
2)bought hibiclens and sulfa dip. put shemp in solution for one hour, allowe to dry, brushed hibiclens.water on shemp with toothbrush on shell, rinsed him under tap, put back in tank.
3) am repeating that step again today
4) am going to put shepm in a warm, dry bucket with screen cover and towel inside overnight to compleatly dry shell
Bubbles
i was inspecting bubbles and i noticed a little raise in his/her skin that covers the neck. didnt think much of it at first, but then tilted her belly up at an angle so her head would pop pot and i could see what was under the skin. there was a TINY TINY white dot, like a small white head on the top of her head. it was so small i have never noticed it before.
what i have done about it:
1) threw her in the sulfa dip as well. i dont know if that is going to help anything ubt why not? it is used as a preventative as well. i have not brushed her with hibiclense.
i dont really know what to do about her. the bump dose not seem connected to her head really, i could be wrong, but just her/his skin.
that was really long, but it was the wortest way i could describe it.
i am working on seeing a vet, its just not going to happen soon, so i am doing whatever i can.
i am so sad for them
