My vet charges $37.60 just for the visit/exam he is not a herp specialist but has 30+ years experience working with them. Where do you live?

It depends on what type of visit you're referring to. If that was for treatment, I would say it's fair. If it's in regards to just an office visit I'm not sure as I haven't taken my turtle to the vets for a check up/physical yet...

The $37.60 for my vet is sick or annual visit. He charges the same, if it's an emergency...it's $57.60 (dying needs to be seen right now during business hours). I wish turtles had insurance it would sure help. I will have to look into it, I know you can get insurance for exotics like birds and iguanas. I know, going to the vet is cheaper than taking my hubby who doesn't have insurance in to see the dr. His annual visit was $65.00 just for a brief check up.

This si just for the visit. It is a herp vet at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. I just madea few calls to other vets and they said they usually charge around $60-65 for exotics, which is still much higher than what i pay for non-herp vet visits ($30).

My vet charges $75 for the visit. It is cheaper for dogs and cats because to study herpetology means more schooling than just for a "regular" vet - it is considered a specialty.
My babies: Tanner (RES), MR. Prissy & Ringo (budgies), Shinju (cockatiel)

I've been charged around 50-75 for just an examination. Some vets show real attention while others are somewhat passive. I think its more important to find a good one than a cheap one which may not yield any results.
