i just baught my turtles about 3 days ago and they wern't living in good condition. the water was soo low that the turtles shell was above water. when i moved them into my setup they water level is halfway (i was afraid of them drowning or escaping) one of my turles seems to use the rocks as a boost to go up for breaths but i never seen the other one ever go up for breaths. both of them are basking but when i come into the room they dive into da water and hide. the one that doesn't breathe is always in the cave i made them with her eyes closed, her arms and feet
tucked in and not moving much. can anyone tell me if this is normal?? i am ver worried about her. please tell me if u need a picture!

A picture would be good. Lathargy is not a good sign. Using rocks to hold themselves up to breath is normal. If plants are available, they will use those too. You can even use suction cups and fake plants to make things on the side of the tank.

In general your turtle shouldn't just float. When floating at the top, the shell shouldn't be lopsided either. There shouldn't be any problem submerging after coming to the top to breathe. Mine stay underwater, for the most part, and swim. They will come up to breathe, check things out, and beg. They also climb out and bask. Mine won't bask when I am in the room either, so running scared is normal.

alright thanks i think they were just scared because after i posted this topic i went into the room and they were both standing on there back legs and sticking there heads out of the water (breathing) so everthing is good. mine seem to sleep all and and play and bask all night. i think its because its more quite at night.

thanks for ur suggestion and my turtles are doing fine now
