I am wondering is it normal for a turtle to shed it's underbelly? I have had my turtle for almost 3 years now and this is the first time I have really noticed it. I went to clean the tank that I have him in today and I noticed huge flat pieces of skin almost like when a lizard sheds. Is it normal and if not what should I do should i take him to a vet?

Both the carapace and plastron scutes will shed (as well as their skin) as they grow. This is very normal. :) How big is your RES?

Thank you so much for letting me know this is normal. Stankass Scuttlebutt (turtles name) is roughly 6-7 inches (just his shell from head to butt) and about 5 inches (side to side)
