I have a red eared slider, its about a year old so its pretty good size, definitly not near full grown, no spots, water is kept up fairly well and i feed him a mixture of sun dried baby shrimp and food pellets. this morning he was under the log in my tank and something was going on that i do not know what. He was in a position as if he was mounting another turtle, like two dogs would mount to mate, his two back legs were pushed together and out from underneath his tail was a large black thing like 1/5 the size of him. I have no idea if maybe this is his reproductive organs or what is going on but iam worried because i was reading up on possible diseases and bacterias. what is this thing that was coming out of his tail? when i tapped on the glass it immediatly went back into his body and there are no remanents of anything in the tank! please help!
