I have two baby res that were given to me about a month and a half ago. This was unexpected so I used a tank I had. I went through the posts of peoples setups and i need to upgrade this one i have. Also i had gravel but i took it out for now because i read they can swallow it. I know it is a bit small but its working for me right now. I went out and got a filter, water conditioner, heater, uvb lights, heat light for the day and heat lamp for night. They seemed really happy in the set up for a good month swimming all the time eating good, but since sunday one of the turtles stopped eating, I tried separating her and feeding her separate but she still wont eat. Her top shell has turned a gray color in the past few days and im getting nervous. Ive been trying to do research before I posted but I hope someone can help me out. She also developed brown spots on her belly and they seem symmetrical but the other one doesn't have them.

Also I clean the tank every few days and I cant get it to not smell! please help! Here are a few pics of her.

The brown spots are normal… they will become darker splotches later on as they lose that green pattern. When you try to feed her separately, do you leave her in the tank or place her into a different one?

I've tried leaving her and she wants nothing to do with the food. Also I've separated her and put her in a smaller tank and tried to feed her and still doesn't eat.

She'll be more comfortable in her regular tank. Was she eating regularly before?

Yes she was eating fine before Sunday. And the other one is completely fine. Is her top shell okay? What do you suggest I try to do? Thanks for replying!

Wide/dark seams look like she may be getting too much food. The whitish could be fungus and/or shedding… I'd keep a close eye on if for now.

Hi!

my RES is experiencing the same problem! but the good thing is it's still eating as per normal. However I have just gotten it from the pet shop less than a month ago. But It jus about doubled in size. Am I over feeding it? cause the other one that I have is not growing as fast. and it started to have the same white spots as her RES... only along the middle of the shell

Certainly sounds like overfeeding. You'd want to separate them when feeding as well since it is not unusual for one to outcompete another.
