Urgent Care :: Fungal or bacterial treatment??

Has anyone tried using Herpcare Skin and Shell treatment?? it's here: http://www.bigalsonline.ca/catalog/prod ... 055;pcid2=

I suspect my turtle has a fungi or a bacterial infection. I will try to get a picture as soon as I can. Would the product above be any help??

How big is your turtle? a little over 1 inch
How long have you had it? around 1 year

What is the water temperature? 78F
Are you using a water heater?Yes
How much water is in there?
Are you using a water conditioner? yes, zooMed Reptisafe
Are you using any filtration? yes Fluval 1 plus (a crappy one, but i'm stuck with it)

What is the basking temperature? not sure
Is there a basking light? yes
Is there a basking platform that is easy to climb on? yes
Is there a UVB light? no. working on this...

What have you been trying to feed it? Reptomin baby
When was the last time your turtle ate? yesterday, feeding it in a few minutes...

How big is the tank/pond/enclosure? i think it's 24 gallons. Somewhere around half of a 40 gallon tank. I'm going to have to check that again...
Is the tank near a window?yes
Is the tank in a room with a lot of activity? no

Have you read the Basic Care section? yes
Have you searched the forums for similar situations? yes

Is there any other unusual activity/symptoms? no

I've never used this product, so don't know if it's any good. The affected area is on the shell? If so, a pic of the shell dry would be good. There's some useful info on shell problems and treatments here: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Care/medshell.htm

I haven't had any luck with store-bought medications, so I'd recommend you take your turtle to a vet to make sure you know what he has - so it can be treated properly. Plus, if you find out what it is, then you have a better chance to correct the cause.

Just a quick note--that's an awful small filter for a 24-gallon tank (and you're right, it is crappy). With poor water quality, shell/skin problems are more apt to reoccur even when the problem is under control.
