right now hes in a 10 gallon tank thats about 55 degrees (no heater tank broke).

about a month ago my two turtles got into a brutal fight which left my male res with a disgusting open wound on the top of his head, i think this happened because the habbit was to small, they never fought before they have been living with each other for about 4 months.

a week later my tank somehow cracked & broke which messed up my filter & heater. im currently saving up for a new tank + a good filter & heater.

ive been treating my turtle with neosporin for about a month & dry docking him for about an hour a day & the hole is still there, the skin around the wound is like a yellow color.

I cannot take him to a vet due to financial issues, there calling to much of a price.

is there anyway to make my little guy better? i want him to get better before i buy another setup! please let me know, thanks !

Are they separated? I would dry dock him for longer periods of time.

Try dry docking him for a longer period, my RES had a mysterious small wound on the side of its head once, and I basically kept him dry for half a day, applied Betadine when I came home before putting him in the water for an few hours for feeding and rehydration, and back in the dock for the night. Betadine in the morning again before work. Stress Coat is helpful, but it's more important to keep the wound dry and the turtle warm, with regular application of ointment of course. You can just use a plastic container to dock him, doesn't have to be too large, 4-6 times ithe size the turtle in area would do.

My RES took about 2 weeks to heal completely.

Don't worry if he appears parched or uncomfortable, as mine endured the 2 weeks well, although rather pissed off at me!
