Hi, a few months ago I decided to adopt a turtle from someone on craigslist who was not taking care of him at all. I got his tank all set up, with all the right things. Then about 3 weeks ago I found a larger tank on craigslist that came with two larger turtles. Then about 2 weeks ago I started noticing that their bellies were beginning to have a pinkish tone. This is a picture of my little baby red eared slider. I think it looks like septicemia. Is septicemia something that is contagious to where all of them might have it, or does this just seem like it could be an infection that they all have? I just need other peoples opinions.

That is perfectly normal to see in turtle species with light plastron. As the turtle grows the new shell growth isnt 100% hard and the blood vessels show through giving overall light pink look. Once new growth hardens the pink goes away. In Septicemia the pink areas are here and there. The pink on your turtle is very symmetrical.

My turtle has the same thing going on. I went as far as to take him to a exotics vet and was told the same exact thing as Diamondbacks4Life stated. As long as it is symmetrical you don't have anything to worry about.

Yeah, it just really feels like something is wrong. His shell also seems to be shedding. Do you think that is normal due to him growing? But his activity level is normal, and he eats fine. So maybe he is just fine. Do you think that it could occur due to overfeeding him?
