Urgent Care :: Turtle eating Styrofoam Turtle Dock???

So for 8 months my turtle used a medium sized turtle dock made by ZooMed it was the one that is tan in color and the turtle basked on it and never bothered it. I noticed when I upgraded him from his 20 gallon tank to his 55 gallon tank that he was getting too small for the dock so I bought him the large sized turtle dock its made of the same materials the only difference is that it is black in color versus the tan color of the first dock. Like with everything I add to his tank he tries to take a bite of it to see if its edible. Well seems the turtle dock is edible to him. Today I caught him grabbing a hold of the dock and taking a big chunk out of it and munching on it like it was candy???? I immediately took the new dock out and put him in "time out" (Dry dock for the night) to keep an eye on him...

So I guess my question is.. Is this harmful for him? Should I put the old dock back in or should I let him snack on the new one? lol

No worries, this is a common thing that has been reported (google this) my turtle used to bite my dock too, has a whole inch missing from it. After a while they stopped and now they're healthy as always (its been 4 months now). Perhaps check if you need to increase your feeding a bit as your turtle may be a bit hungry.
