Hello everyone, great forum, it has been plenty of help over last month. However I have failed to find any info on the current weird crunching noise my res is making while eating....
At first I though it was just certain types of hard foods actually making the crunching sound , but it is obvious now that it happens with any food. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot for the great forum once again.

Hi, welcome to the site. Is it the same sounds with every food? What have you been offering? Is it possible that the beak is overgrown?

Thanks,
Yes the sound persists regardless of food,
I have been offering a variety of pellets including reptomin,
Shrimp, bloodworms, calimari, veggies mostly carrots.
I am not sure what are the signs of the overgrown beak.
However it certainly is a possibility.

Does the sounds only occur when eating?

This is an example, though it doesn't happen often:

Yep only when eating, bizzare really.... don't think its the beak....
I would understand if it only happened with hard pellets and blood worms ....but it happens with soft stuff too....

I sometimes hear a crunching when my RES eat their veggies, so I wouldn't be to concerned. Try feeding smaller portions and see if it continues to happen.

Ay, will do.... thanks very much for your help.... also I was trying to get cuttlebone to keep that beak in check and provide a more solid source of calcium as I am not sure me dusting his food is working so well....
