nothing, if you put anything in the turtle tank, IT WILL BE LUNCH EVENTUALLY. You can't do anything about it, only thing i found was to add more rocks so the snail can blend in. Get some anachris, snails and plecos will munch on that.

First, there's nothing you can do except take the fish out if you dont want him being eaten.

Second, that sounds reasonable for a vet visit to me. Mine normally charges $35 just to get in the door but not for me (great to have friends in the biz).

When I kept snails I fed them romaine lettuce. I weighed it down with river rocks so they'd find it. You can buy algae wafers for the fish to eat.

My snails eat:
other snails (if they are dead)
Carrots (they all love carrots)
Anacharis (a big fav)
Alge
Fish Food (the big one mainly)

My Pleco
Alge
I haven't personally seen him eat Anacharis but it is possible I suppose.

That price doesn't seem overly high to me. A herp vet near me charged $38 for a visit (and that was a few years ago).

The snails I have eat lettuce and I just let it float in the water. I sometimes buy wafers for them. My RES likes to crunch on a few on occasion as well.
