Had my baby for a few years now and he is doing more than fine! looks healthy! eats, swims, and is even getting a nice tan :P nevertheless, he has been itching by moving his hand on his neck/face and he (sometimes) bites his own hand out of itching. I can see that he is not quite comfortable. Why is this happening? is it because of the dead skin? should I be worried?

I've seen my RES bite their hands before and I'm pretty sure other people have described it too. I'd just check the water quality.

I have two and when they're shedding some skin I've seen them bite it off their feet and off each other's necks and stuff. Could be that. lol The little one I have feels some comfort I guess in the one thats slightly bigger and often I see it cleaning shed skin off its buddy. :p
