Urgent Care :: Skin fungus?

Alright I finally have some pics of my turtle dry, here they are. I did the best I could with my phone so hopefully you can see them alright. TRIPOD



This one shows his missing leg spot, there's barely even a nub there. There appears to be a scar so I'm pretty sure it wasn't a birth defect. I think it got bit off by a bigger turtle or a bird maybe. It was completely healed by the time I got him so it must have happened at least a few weeks ago.

These are all wet pics taken within a day or 2 of my original post showing the skin fungus (?) which now appears to be completely gone.






I believe he's a YBS, but he does have some pinkish spots in the ear area so he could be a hybrid. He's definitely not a full RES. I live in South Carolina if that's any help determining species. Any comments about the coloration of his plastron/shell? It doesn't seem normal. I'm pretty sure it's not dirt because he has been in clean filtered water for a couple weeks with no lightening of the color, and it doesn't rub off.

I have no idea what he could be. I was thinking Florida Red-Belly (Pseudemys nelsoni), but the plastron just doesn't look like that.

Yeah he doesn't look like a red-belly but that wasn't a bad guess. Sorry I can't get better pictures.

I have an idea, which might sound stupid because I don't really know much about turtle illnesses, but could it be bruising in his shell? I read in the health section that septicemia from a wound can cause redness in the shell...maybe he had septicemia from when his leg got bit off but them when it healed the redness in the shell faded to brown? And then the normal colored yellow parts could be the new shell that has grown since then? Or dirt could have gotten imbedded in it somehow (I don't know if that's even possible). I'm so curious about it now! Have you never seen anything like that before, Steve?
