Urgent Care :: Aggressive Behavior during Mating Season?

Hi. Trouble and Turbo are both around 4 y.o. but Trouble is bigger than Turbo (8 inches and 6 inches respectively.) The two of them usually get on pretty well but until around 2-3 weeks ago, Trouble has been trying to bite Turbo on one particular spot on his left arm! There've been 4 times over last three weeks, please give me some advice on what is wrong with Trouble -- he has enough food and also his turtle bone to chew on. Are you sure they are males? They seem really really big for four years..and most females dont get to 8 inches til much later. If they are females (or one of them) then yes, you could be right.

My tank has two females..one lays eggs and one doesnt. They get along great..the one that doesnt lay eggs (Raina) has established dominance in the tank. However, when Sylvie is laying eggs, she gets dominant. Usually Raina backs down until she is done and then she reestablishes her dominance.

Both male and female RES can be aggressive, I would consider separating them.

Thank you to both of you for the advices. Actually I overestimated their sizes -- they're about 6 inches and 5 inches only.
Trouble has quieted down since not long after I posted here,but I'm still watching him in case anything happens. Thanks again!
