Hey guys,

It stinks this is my first post but I need some help, I bought 2 baby RES's on wensday and I noticed a little white dot on "Bubba"'s shell :( My set up is a 15 gallon rubbermaid filled halfway with clean conditioned water, I have a Tetra 10-30i filter, a UVB reptisun 5.0 lamp and a regular house bulb for the heat lamp. The water stays at about 78-80 degrees and the basking dock stays at 80-90 degrees. I do the 12 hrs on 12 hrs off cycle for my turtles and feed them once daily for about 30 mins as much as they can eat. (ReptoMin pellets and small cut up earthworms sometimes). Bubba seems to be happy and swimming around lots and basking normaly and just happy as could be. His brother Franklin has no white dots and is very active as well. I was just wondering if this could be start or shell rot or soft shell :( Franklin's shell is normal and a little soft on the edges but I assume thats normal since they are 2 month old hatchlings still. But Bubba's shell is soft on the edges and I noticed the white dot. Can some one help me? :(

Its probably just a scrape mark he got somewhere along the line. It should heal over after awhile. It doesnt look like a fungas or anything. The soft shell for so young is normal too. They dont really become fully hardened until after 2inches.

that is one green turtle!

ya does not look like a fungus thing. if it spreads then yeah but if its just that little dot and stays the same size and does not spread or grow, its most likely what DBT said...a Scrape or maybe was born with it or something other then a fungus.

Today im going to upgrade to a bigger 20gal long tank and take out the rocks in the bottom and swap everything. Im thinking its just a scrape as mentioned above. But I tried using a qtip to see if it was soft or if it would fall off but it looks to be a scar to me. Im hoping this is what it is :? he seems to be happy and energetic so hes fine I think.
