Toni, My Turtle has a large black slime growth coming out of the side of his tale. What is it and what do I do?

It's his penis and it should go back in by itself. This is called "fanning". If you have other turtles with him, it might be accidently bitten, so you should be careful.

no other friends, but his tank was dirty! I am cleaning it now!

Yep congrats, you definitely have a boy :lol: Like Steve said it should go back in by itself, just keep an eye out that he doesn't damage it with his back claws or any other animals in the tank do anything to it.

i definitely got a glimpse of my turtle's penis last night. they are FREAKY looking! i actually thought that he was laying on top of the plecco at first.
