oh and clean his shell once a week and give him a rinse under the tap before you put him back into the tank. Makes sure Non of the disinfectant gets into his eyes.

Make sure if you choose to do a salt bath you search the forum and do it correctly.

@ za94 What disinfectant are you using? ... cause when I think disinfectant, I think Lysol!!

I don't think under normal circumstances you should have to clean a turtles shell, just if they start growing algae or something... maybe I'm wrong though!

No, a turtles shell does not normally need cleaning if it's healthy. It should not be slimy, and any algae can be removed with a soft cloth or q-tip.
