Urgent Care :: Forcing to peel the scute - help

Someone asked me about this in my blog.

She didn't know that scute is not allowed to be forced,but she had done it and now her turtle is so quite and refuse to eat. to make matter worse, the new scute turns white and a bit yellowish.

What should she do to help her turtle?

i write about how to take care a turtle in my blog in my native language, the article is based on my mistake in taking care of kame before I found res.com,and now there are always people who asked about disease...my knowledge is still limited

The shell will heal. I think not much to do except to keep the environment clean to prevent infection and keep feeding healthy foods. Bask the turtle under morning sunlight daily may help too.

That's my personal opinion based on my limited knowledge. Perhaps others have better take on this.

She removed a scute and it was white/yellowish underneath or the scute had changed color? Does it have a rough texture? Her turtle should be isolated from the others if she has multiple turtles and it should be dry docked if there is any bleeding. Like Kemul said, clean environment and sun might help.

Is rough texture the right one or wrong one? I suddenly remember my own turtle, Kame has rough new scutes

If the scutes look fine, but feel rough... it's possible they were forced. If it feels rough, but came off on it's own, it possible the shell is not as smooth as it should be. If it's rough and discolored (usually whitish), then it's a bone layer.

I can't say that kame's new scute as smooth...it is not rough either, it's somewhat contour
