Hello from Canada! A few weeks ago, we got our first RES and he seemed quite content and active. In the last week he doesn't seem to be eating and is, of course, less active. His shell seems to be really dry but he is in and out of the water. Charlie's home is about a 20 gallon tank - with gravel flat and built up, a water heater (always between 75-77 degrees) and a basking light.
In the past few days we have tried everything from calcium - Vitamin A & D - extra water cleaning - food dipped in tuna water - tuna - 2 different kinds of food...but still he is not eating.
The other day, he gave us such a scare as he appeared to be dead for a few hours- did not move at all even when he was picked up....we thought he was sleeping but then decided he must have died BUT.....jsut as we were discussing what to do with him, he moved and started swimming....
What is happening to him? Any ideas?

Just a quick question, has he defecated? If you are using gravel, then there is the possibility of impaction...
