Can male and female RES live together without breeding. I have 2 res that were re-homed to me, I want to better their living conditions but do not want to encourage any mating. truthfully I had no Idea what I was getting into when I agreed to care for these turtles. They have been in my care for a couple of years, I have never seen any mating activety, or eggs laid is this normal.

there probably isnt anythign you can do besides separate them, but what u can do is destroy the eggs in a humane way

My female lays hers and straight away eats them,
This is probably because my males are not yet old enough to mate, but next year they will be 5 so, Im not sure what im going to do with my eggs as they are hard to keep warm for me.

Are you certain you have a male and a female? How old/big are they?
