Do they feel pain when injected? Yes, I think injections are normally for the pectoral muscle, not around the pelvic muscle. Was his previous shot there too?

im not sure, we didn't witness the first injection. we did, however, witness the second and most recent injection. the vet said we had to give squirt a medicine injection tomorrow on our own- he told us to inject between the carapace/plastron and between one of squirt's legs/tail, sorta like in the exposed area there. does that sound right? if not, where is an ideal injection site? sorry for my lack of medical knowledge and thanks for your help!

Also my vet injected my res in that area (between the rear leg and the tail) when she had a bacterial infection.. he allegedly is an expert in reptiles.

ok, thanks! makes me feel a little better that another vet did the same... hopefully the injections help because squirt looks scared when we have to give him one!

update: squirt seemed to be doing fine but now i think he could have pneumonia :cry:

If you're feeding food with beta carotene in it, your RES will convert it to Vit A as needed and you shouldn't have to worry about his getting too much or too little.

I'm sure they do feel some discomfort with injections. I would think how much would depend on the size of the needle and the skill of the person administering it.

For the jello shots, you might look at the thread on making them and the various veggies members have included in them.

I'm dying to know what happened to this little guy. I'm just browsing on here and was reading this and it just breaks my heart because I know how much I love my little one! Does anyone know if her precious Squirt made it or not?

Unfortunately, about the only way to know is if Squirt's keeper posts an up date on his condition.

we're on our 2nd round of antibiotics now, and squirt is doing much better, although he still swims a bit lopsided. hopefully the antibiotics finish this lung thing up! thank you for your concern, im sure squirt appreciates it!
