hey guys, im currently having a serious problem with my slider, ive had him for 12 years and his Diet, habitat and environment are perfectly fine, i think he has contracted a parasitic infection from recent contact with a yellow belly slider, both have been excreting long white tubular strings, they dont seem to be alive but ive never seen anything like them before and ive never seen him behave like this before, this slider an original ninja turtle, always happy to see people and loves attention and even comes when hes called lol but over the past couple of days while excreting those things he has been wheezing, going from hyper and agitated to almost no movement at all with his eyes closed, his eyes are perfectly clear although are very dilated seems as though he has lost his vision which is really scaring me he usually follows me about the place all the time where as now he wont come near me yet responds to my voice when he hears me calling him. im very very concerned for the both of them and have never had any health issues with him before.
does this sound like parasite infection behaviour? or is there any other illnesses that would cause these symptoms?
i will bring him to an experienced vet of course but im having money issues at the minute and the only experienced exotic vet in northern ireland charges an arm and leg and ive had a bad experience with him in the past concering a wee Uromastyx.
all help is appreciated
ive been doing alot of research on the internet and have read in various forums that pumpkin seeds and organic butternut squash baby food possess qualities that paralyze and aid with the passing of various types of parasitic worms, however i dont like to just try things incase it costs my terrapins health.
do you guys have any information on this by any chance.
