As I said in a previous post I think my turtle may have pneumonia... dark circle around nose (mucus?), slightest lopsided swimming, squeaky noises, opens mouth underwater (sort of like, can you feed me now type of opening. it's like making the tsk tsk noise... does that make sense?)

I'm pretty sure I saw my turtle cough up something white... I can't find it in the tank now as I left to try to get the tweezers... but I took something translucent-ish out... could that be tissue? If so what do I do to preserve it? I don't think my vet will be available until soon and I'm not even sure if it's tissue. Basically I would like to be SURE my turtle has pneumonia before taking it to the vet, my parents have already spent $200+ on recent RI vet appointments and are not willing to pay any more. If necessary I'm going to scrape together as much money as I can.

Was he basking for a long time before going into the water? If you can net it, put it in a plastic cup w/water from the tank and store it in the fridge.

Nope, he wasn't basking.

Maybe my eyes were fooling me... I guess I didn't have the right angle so I can't tell if he actually coughed it up. Anyway, I left for a minute to find the tweezers, and by the time I got back I couldn't find it. Maybe it got caught in the filter, eaten...

Thanks! Your advice will surely help me in the future. Time to go keep an eye on Squirt...
