Urgent Care :: Please, someone help. I don't want to get the wrong meds

So I think my res has worms. They are thin and white, I found them in his poop. Petsmart has de-worming medicated food for aquatic turtles. Should I buy it? And what other precautions should I take so he can be as healthy as possible and for this not to occur again?
Please help. I'm a desperate 16 year old that really cares for her turtle

I've heard of "medicated" foods before, but I don't think anyone on this forum has tried it. The best thing to do is get a sample so a vet can ID it and prescribe the right medicine. Parasites and worms have their own specific meds for optimal treatment.

And are the vets at petsmart helpful?

If you recently bought your turtle from petsmart, they are responsible and should take care of it. Vet prices can vary, though I don't think it would be too expensive in this situation.

I don't know if they'll take care of it, you'll need to speak to them.

A herp vet price will vary, so you'll need to speak to them first. I would guess the total visit+meds might cost around $100.

The last vet i went to they charge me $65 dollar for check up and then 20 dollar for medication and shot.. It still pretty cheap around NYC and I will never go back there again. Cause I believes i know more than the Vet over there.. If you going to go for a vet aim for the one that only take care of exotic animal, not those that claim that they can do all animal...

You will need to bring a stool sample with you to whoever is going to treat your turtle (the kind of worm can be determined and appropriate dewormer prescribed). It's possible you won't have to even bring your turtle if the turtle has no other issues, but if the dosage is given by weight, you will---check with the vet first). Try to keep the stool intact and moist (add a little tank water); putting it in a small, clean plastic bag (like the ones used for pills) works well.
