Urgent Care :: Turtle's Eye is all Red :(

So... can anyone tell me what i can do about this? I think the eye got bit my another turtle, so i separated them now.. or maybe its just sick? i just want to know how to fix the eye and whats wrong... thanks

Definitely looks like a bite wound to me. Keep this turt separate from the one(s) that bit him.

Permanent separation. Clean the wounds (rinse with warm water then use a cotton swab with diluted Betadine) and let air dry. Then apply some Neosporin and dry dock. If there is any discoloration, swelling or change in appetite, I would seek out a vet ASAP.

so rinse, use betadine, then neosporin, and then keep her out of the water? there wasnt any change in appetite, so i think itll be okay?

where can i get this... betadine and neosporin? i almost thought you said polysporin lol..cause i have lots of that

oh and whats dry dock... like.. out of water? lol

You can get them at pharmacies like Walgreens or CVS. Actually, I'd try some Hibiclens/chlorohexidine (diluted 50/50 with water, which you can also get at places like Walgreens) rather than the Betadine. Apply it sparingly with a q-tip and avoid getting any in the eyes, keep it on a bit, then rinse. If you should get a bit in the eyes, rinse them with water.

Let the wounds dry and apply some Neosporin with a clean q-tip. Dry docking is keeping your turtle out of the water. If you do this in the evening, you can keep the turtle out overnight in a container (give him a cloth to burrow under).

He's lucky his eyes weren't affected. He needs his own set-up, or if your tank is really big, a divider in it to keep the other one away.
