I'm starting this topic in urgent care because I've had two baby turtles die.
1st turt: clear case of R.I, did not do anything but bask/sleep in it's last remaining days. (3 months)
2nd turt: swimming, eating, acting normally EXCEPT for it was sleeping a lot more while basking. Then all of a sudden, it passed on. (4 months)
I have two turtles now, about 1.5 inches each. They've been in the tank for about 2 weeks. One is very healthy...swimming...eating...etc. The other, I notice spends more time sleeping while basking or on the basking ramp in the water.
I'm concerned because it seems to be a growing pattern...are they suppose to be sleeping while basking? I mean, even the healthy one does it sometimes as we speak, but I'm very concerned it can lead to possible illness...anyone have any experiences with this?
Also, the one that's been sleeping more frequently doesn't really have an appetite like the healthy one does.
Water temp - 80, basking area with UVB and UVA light. filter, calcium turt bone.
Thanks
