Please help! My husband was cleaning our RES's tank while he was in the sink. He is about 7 months old and somehow, he climbed out of the sink and fell off of the counter about 3 feet to the floor, landing on his back!!! This happened on Wednesday and he seems to be fine. Should we take him to the vet?

Is any part of his shell cracked? You didn't see any bleeding, right? If so many days have passed and you haven't noticed any signs that he's hurt, then he probably isn't. Keep a close eye on him for the next week just to be sure and if you don't notice anything out of the ordinary until then, he's fine. The carapace most likely took the shock.

My RES fell from the 3 floor balcony when he was a baby and he was fine afterwards, only a little bleeding from the mouth which stopped in a couple of minutes. I'm not proud of this, I just think it's worth mentioning.

There isn't a crack that we have noticed. I will keep my eye on him. Thank you for your reply. I told my husband about yours and honestly, it makes me feel better knowing that it has happened to others.

I'm glad there is no sign of shell damage. He's eating okay, right?

Yeah, he is eating okay. If he had his way, he would eat all of the time! HAHA! He's such a pig! Thanks for asking!
