I recently joined this website hoping for some assistance, maybe even a cure, for my sick baby red ear slider. I have received some valued advice. Thank you so much to those that replied when I needed help.
I am not writing to gain pity from anyone, but merely writing to warn other pet owners, to take good care of their pets. Even a small life, is still a life.
For a while, I thought he was feeling better. He was eating a lot more for a week, then these two days, he ate less. When I came home tonight, he was gone.
He is a baby slider, 4 months old. Ever since he got sick about a month ago, he has been losing significant weight. His shell continues to grow abnormally and his arms are skinny like sticks. I would have taken him to the vet, but it's been too cold lately, with snow storms hitting NY almost weekly. He originally got sick from the cold weather, I can't afford to make him feel worse by taking him to a vet unless they could have a cure for him. It's just too risky to take him out of the house. I was going to take him in when the weather warms up.
I separated him with his friend once I noticed his condition turned worse. I believed that he lost the will to fight on ever since he was quarantined. Maybe it was my mistake for doing so. I will take care of his friend and make sure he grows healthy and old at all cost.
Till the last day I see him, I've realized I have not given him a proper name. Ever since he got sick, he's been sleeping a lot. Even till he passed away, he still look like he's sleeping. His struggle with RI is finally over. May Slipie Rest in Peace.
