Hey guys,

Somebody has given me his RES, because he doesn't want it any more, but he lived in a small aquarium with SHALLOW water, he never had UVB light exept from the sun (the turtle stood in a shed, from time to time there was some sun in there). I accepted the RES but when I put him in a full aquarium with a basking area etc, he looks quite stressful, could it be that he doesn't want to go in to deep water, he was kept in shallow water for at least 13 years

Due to the fact he didn't had a proper habitat, he does look very healthy, he's just very shy.

Does anybody have an opinion on this?

I rescued my RES also. When I first put him in his tank he literally freaked out. He was restless the whole day, it almost looked as if he refused to swim and just wanted to come up for air the entire time. By the second day he started to come down and it just got better each day.

They just need time.
