Urgent Care :: Fungus on Skin???

I was checking out Filbert tonight, and it looked like he was having some heavy shedding on his neck. But when I looked closer, it wasn't skin (he's shed for me once before)... it was more... milky? And thick. As I was watching him, I noticed a bit of the same funk on his new turtle dock. (One of those things that holds on by magnets.) I immediately took out the dock, and noticed that it was all slimy on the bottom. And the filter in my tank was pretty funky looking too, even though I just changed it less than a week ago.

What are some remedies to help with the skin funk/fungus? (And as horrible of an owner as I sound, I don't have time to clean his tank again til this weekend...)

What have you been trying to feed it? he eats his pellets, lettuce and krill... try to feed him carrots, strawberries and grapes
When was the last time your turtle ate? an hour ago

How big is the tank/pond/enclosure? 20 gallon

Is there any other unusual activity/symptoms? no... he's eating and swimming just fine... there is some weird soap-like bubbles in the water also, but it's not soap

Maybe you can try taking it out of the water and putting it under a UB light for a few hours a day if it doesn't bask very much.

I would not try to put chemicals like iodine on it.

UVB lighting should prevent shell rot and fungus from developing. One of those light bulb holders and bulbs should cost around $20 after tax.

Improving his habitat---getting a UVB light, checking the basking area with a temp to make sure it's in the correct range (88 - 90F), etc. would do a lot to help.

What size tank is he in? How many gallons of water is in it? What brand of filter are you using?

He's in a 20 gallon tank, almost filled. And its a Whisper filter, from Wal-Mart.

I bought two more thermometers yesterday. I put a floating one in the opposite corner of the heater and one on the basking area. The water is still reading 75*F on both water ones, and between 84 and 86*F on the one in the basking area.

I am going to purchase a UVB light today (finally). I'm just sorry it took me so long, now I know the repercussions.
