Urgent Care :: Chalk!

Hey guys,
My son dropped a piece of colored chalk into Krueger's tank! it dissolved so i could not fish it out. Do you think it will hurt him? I was wondering if the filters would do good enough and it would be okay. I don't even know if chalk is harmful, I think it's pretty mild stuff, but I'm still concerned. I'd like to avoid a complete water change if I can since the tank is a 146g, but of course I'll do whatever he needs.

I would look on the box and make sure it says non-toxic to be sure but it probably is made to be used by kids and so they probably took into consideration kids might put in in their mouth. Plus if it was so little it dissolved that quickly, I'm sure it's pretty diluted in 146 gallons.

Chalk is made from calcium carbonate, the color is likely veggy based and non-toxic. Several years ago the dyes used in products aimed at childeren where banned from using any toxic dyes. So there is nothing too worry about

You might worry if you have any sensitive fish in that tank. The calcium carbonate will make the water really hard. Shouldn't effect the turtle, and it will be removed gradually with partial water changes.
