Hello, im new here! but i have a really important question... my RES has an Ear Abscess. He's 2 years old and he has the abscess since 2 weeks, first i thougt it was nothing but it now its grow bigger. What can i do? i'm a student so i do not have enough money for a vet. Can my RES die?? please help!!

My suggestion is you call the local vets in your area to see how much they'd charge for a visit and possibly antibiotics. Tell them you are a student on a limited budget etc. You really need to get your turtle to a vet asap.

There's really no other option for him than a vet. Some vets will work out payments with you if you can't afford to pay the whole bill at once. Good luck!

The abcess will become increasingly painful as it grows (due to pressure from the mass on the surrounding tissue), but your turtle won't be able to tell you that. Eventually, it will sicken him. Getting it taken care of as soon as possible will help your turtle recover more quickly. The vet will lance it, clean out the opening and most likely prescribe antibiotics to kill off bacteria in his system. Don't delay--there's a sticky for locating a herp vet and information on the site as well. Let us know what happens.
