Urgent Care :: Shell is flaking and not eating ><

My turtles about 4inchs long and one has white crush or film around eyes and shell is flaking! Can someone pls help me. I fear for my turtles!!

What have you been trying to feed it? Turlte pellets and shrimp bits
When was the last time your turtle ate? no sure maybe 4 days

How big is the tank/pond/enclosure?15 gal
Is the tank near a window? no

Is there any other unusual activity/symptoms? eyes swollen, lethragic, no appettie, slow, shell flaking

first and foremost, the water temperature is too low. that is probably your biggest problem when it comes to them not eating. the temp should be around 74-76 for a turtle your size. additionally, your basking temperature should be about 10 degrees warmer than the water, so 80-85 degrees F should entice your turtle to come out of the water.

shell flaking may be due to the lack of UVB light he is receiving. handle that quickly because it can cause serious, irreversible problems.

finally, if you have a problem that may be stress, your tank size is part of the reason. 10 gallons of water for every inch of shell is recommended, so you should be at a minimum of 30-40 gallons of water for your little guy.

you need to go and get a water heater ASAP and also you need to warm up the basking area and get UVB. if the water temp is as low as yours the turtle wont eat and could die. if the basking area is that cold it wont get out of the water and the shell could rot. when you get the water heater, warm the basking lamp with a regular household bulb and get a UVB light it should help. you need to start looking for a bigger tank too. read over the main site. it is very informative

I agree with papoo and daniel also.It's too low it needs to be ATLEAST 75 degrees,and the highest 80 degrees.
