Urgent Care :: Is "rapid head bobbing" map turtles' mating dance

My pepsy(map turtle) has been doing this to Coke(RES) all night tonight. At first I thought he was biting Coke, then I searched it up, I found this site

it says that "...This technique should also work for Common Maps, although Northern Maps may use a rapid head bobbing (rather than fore-claw flutter) to show interest in females)..... Is mississippi map turtle a type of northern turtles?

I don't know if he is biting coke or doing the mating dance? Pepsy is only 2". They are not even the same species. Can map turtles be interested in RES? Can they have babies?

If you think their biting one another it might turn fatal, also RES's mating dance is also the fighting dance, so im not sure about urs though.

I do remeber reading some where that different species off turtles can not mate. They both are quite small and probley not even close too sexual maturity. I would guess that it was fighting you saw not mating.

ether way, separte them now. 2 turtles is already alot, and if there not mating there fighting.

thx for the advices. I am thinking of getting a bigger tank. I think this will ease the tension. I live in school residence, there is no space for another tank in my room.
