Urgent Care :: Pyramiding Question

My turtle Screw does have pyramiding, Is pyramiding just a sign of being fed wrong? Or is it something that will kill Screw?

It is a sign of having an improper diet, one high in protein, and can shorten his life span drastically.

Blackforces, pyramiding is not a fatal disease like smallpox or something. It's a condition caused by dietary imbalances that gets slowly worse and worse until the problem is corrected or the turtle dies.

When the diet is corrected, then the condition stops progressing. If it hasn't progressed too far when the diet is corrected, then the turtle will live a normal life span. If it's progressed pretty far, then the turtle's lifespan may be shortened because his internal organs have been stressed.

ohhh ok i see now that helps thanks . my 3 inch had pyramiding for like 1 year now and im still wondering about him. ill have to delay the pellets

Yea screws first 3 scutes are really pyramided.. Gotta cut down bad..

When I didnt know about this site I had a proper setup and everything but Not the proper Nutrition information.. Id just throw like 20 crickets in a day, and like 20 brine shrimp and like 30 pellets a day.. :/. As hatchlings.

thanks to this site it kept my 3 inch fine and happy. but the other baby couldnt survive . i wanted another one but well yeah im sorry, my dad said no and bought me my 5 inch female
