Hey!!
I need your help
I have 2 turtles, on of them is a RES and I am pretty sure that the other one is a painted turtle. I got both of them at pet stores.
The painted turtle is maybe 1 inch bigger than the RES, and the painted turtle bit the smaller RES turtle on the NECK this morning and held on for about 20-30 seconds. I had to go to school, so I seperated them and put the painted turtle in different container.
but I don't have any idea what to do...
Please Help!

You separated the turtles, which is the appropriate thing to do.
Once turtles fight, they cannot live together. The aggression will get worse until one kills the other one.
You'll need to set up a second tank for one of the turtles. If keeping two separate set ups isn't something you're interested in, you'll need to keep them separate until you find one turtle a home.

As for the bite... how bad is it? Was there bleeding and has it stopped? You'll want to keep the injured turtle in very clean water and apply some antibacterial cream to the bite to help prevent it from getting infected.

Good thing that you seperated them, don't put them back together.
Did the painted break the skin on the res's neck? Was he bleeding? You need to give us a little more information.

That doesn't mean the aggression wasn't serious, nor that the wound shouldn't be monitored.
The turtles really need to be kept separate. The next time you may not be so lucky.
Search the forum and you'll see story after story of people who thought their turtles were fine together and came home to find one dead.
