Hi -
This morning I noticed a small piece of the shell (around the edge) fell off from my RES. He is acting normal but is missing a small piece of shell now. Is this a normal growth process?
I will post some pics tonight.

Thank you
Dennis

I'm thinking shedding but I'm not sure...

what's your setup like? What's the temp. of the water? How big is your turtle? Do you have a UVB/UBA bulb and a basking area? If so, what's the temp. of the basking area?

Is the piece that fell off translucent and the same shape as the area it came from? Is the shell that's been exposed (that was underneath the piece that came off) healthy-looking and hard? If so, it sounds like your turtle has shed a scute, which turtles will do as they grow. If this doesn't describe what happened, please post a pic.
