Hi guys, I came home and the light in the tank was turned off as usual, but my RES was sleeping on the basking dock, I was wondering if that is safe or even normal?

As long as he's acting normally otherwise (not lethargic) it's fine. Sometimes they fall asleep basking and don't wake up for a while after the light goes out.

My turts will tend sleep out of the water when the water temps and ambient air temps are up, as they are in the summer.

Totally normal. I catch Sheba doing this about once every 2 months or so. Sometimes they just want to be dry when they sleep!

FYI - you don't need to keep your turtle outside every night. They won't drown if you leave them in the water. In the wild, they sleep in the water, so it is totally fine to leave your turtle in the tank at night.
