Urgent Care :: Male forcing mating on the female turtle!?

My male turtle about 3 inches is forcing mating on my female turtle (4"). And my female turtle keeps brushing him away all the time! The male turtle (AC) will go on doin that mating dance to her (DC that is). They spend the entire time in this chase. What should I do?

If you don't separate them now, you will have either a hurt or dead turtle or babies very soon. If you don't want either, separate them.

You really need to separate them. The female will hurt or kill the male when she finally gets fed up of his advances.
If you can't afford or don't want a second tank, look into a temporary set up like a rubbermaid bin until you can find one turtle a new home.

Pretty much, I mean, it might be seasonal, but people on the board have had mating advances any time of the year. It'd be best to get a second tank for the male or give him away to a family member or friend.

Yup. I have gone thru this in the past where I had a small male turt in the tank with my big female RES (Sheba) and he would pester her year-round. It was so bad that she started biting at him when he would do it & he ended up with a sprained tail, bitten-off front claws, and other scrapes. They fought so much I had to separate them during the day because any time they saw each other, they fought very loudly (it was so loud, you couldn't ignore it).

This situation will only escalate. Start looking into a new tank NOW before someone gets seriously injured!!!

youre totally right they do fight all the time if the female doesnt "accept"
