Try not giving any pellets for a couple days, sometimes it takes a bit of persuasion to get them to eat their vegetables at first. Try offering a variety of veggies (look at the sticky of what to feed in the feeding and nutrition section), some turtles like certain veggies more than others. The first vegetables my turtle would eat was carrot. Sometimes brightly colored vegetables like carrots, red peppers, or red leaf lettuce are more readily accepted. Just be sure to at least offer some every day, eventually she'll come around.

I dont know if anyone's still reading this thread, but if they are... I got a uvb light, and also a tetra repto filter which says it's powerfull enough for aquariums up to 20 gallons.... soo... I dunno if it is though. :/

In regard to a new filter, you will need a filter that has a gph of 5 times the volume of the tank water. Most pet stores don't have a clue about filters for turtles. Clean water, lighting, proper temps are the key.

The rating for filters and tank size is made with fish in mind, and since turtles are messier than fish, they need a more powerful filter. The one you got, if it's not inadequate already, soon will be as your turtle grows.

Good on the UVB light, though. What kind did you get? Do you have it positioned next to the heat light over the basking area? What's the temp of the basking area?

oh.... well I thought maybe it would be ok since it it was made for reptiles, but it says its only big enough for a 20 gallon which is what I have. And yeah, I got a "repto glo" 5.0 uvb bulb and put it in a little work light thingy I got from lowes...

also, shes developed some kind of white spot on her head. its not a bump I dont think, and its not fuzzy like fungus. looks kinda like loose skin.

btw the white stuff on her head in the second one isnt the white spot Im talking about, thats just what happens when she basks to long, is it normal?

I see some kind of white dried-up residue on the eyelids in the second pic. The white on the head isn't like that? If not, perhaps it is some dried out skin.

The white spot on her head is more roundish. and is still there when she goes under water.

It's possible she could have scraped the skin somehow.
